Osnabrück/Berlin – The international children's rights organization Terre des Hommes reported revenues of just over €51.8 million for 2024, an increase of €3.1 million compared to the previous year. Revenues came primarily from donations (€27.4 million) and co-financing (€19.4 million). Compared to the previous year, donations in 2024 increased by €4.5 million, while co-financing decreased by just over €3 million.
"Thanks to this support, we were able to fund a total of 416 projects to empower disadvantaged and exploited children in 47 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East in 2024," explains Joshua Hofert, CEO of Terre des Hommes . "This enabled us, together with our partner organizations, to support girls in Afghanistan who are prohibited from attending school after sixth grade, help children in Ukraine process traumatic experiences, and provide families in Cambodia with clean drinking water. We were able to support working children in Peru and Bolivia in demanding their right to education and accompany young people in Zimbabwe in establishing child protection committees to fight against the violence in their region."
"Given the numerous humanitarian crises in Sudan, Myanmar, and the Sahel, we need significantly more resources to provide aid there as well," says Joshua Hofert. "It is therefore completely incomprehensible that the German government is cutting back on development cooperation and even wants to cut funding for humanitarian aid by over 50 percent. At a time when many countries, especially the USA, are withdrawing from their international responsibilities, it gives me hope that we are receiving more donations right now. Our donors are unwilling to accept that around 500 million children in conflict zones are suffering from hunger and disease, and that 138 million children still have to work to ensure their families' survival. For this, I am very grateful to the supporters of Terre des Hommes ."
